💭 The Truth: It’s Probably NOT About Your Food

First of all—don’t be too hard on yourself. This kind of thing happens way more often than people admit, especially at big family gatherings.

Let me give you an honest, real perspective 👇

💭 The Truth: It’s Probably NOT About Your Food

When nobody touches a dish, it feels personal—but most of the time, it isn’t.

At big events like Easter lunches:

  • People go for what they already know and love
  • Kids especially stick to familiar, simple foods
  • If something looks “different,” people hesitate to be the first to try it

Sometimes all it takes is one person starting… and if no one does, the dish just gets ignored.

😬 Common Reasons This Happens

Here are the real (but normal) reasons:

1. Too Many Food Options

Big family meals = overloaded tables.
People fill their plates fast and don’t come back.

2. Presentation Confusion

If people don’t immediately understand:

  • what it is
  • how to eat it

They skip it.

3. Timing

If your dish was placed a bit later or off to the side, people may have already eaten.

4. Kids’ Preferences

Kids usually go for:

  • fries
  • pizza
  • simple desserts

Anything “new” gets ignored 😅

❤️ Important: This Doesn’t Mean It Was Bad

Not being eaten ≠ not tasty.

In fact:

  • Many amazing dishes get ignored just because no one tried first
  • People might’ve even thought it looked good but felt shy

👍 What You Can Do Next Time

  • Introduce it out loud: “Hey I made this, you have to try it!”
  • Serve small portions directly to a few people
  • Keep it simple or familiar-looking for big groups
  • Or just ask one trusted person to take the first bite (this works like magic)

💬 Final Thought

You didn’t fail—you just ran into group behavior.

Honestly, the fact that you:

  • cared enough to make something special
  • felt proud of it
  • and even had the courage to share this

…already says a lot.

Next time, with one small push, I guarantee people WILL try it.

If you want, send me a pic of what you made—I’ll give you super honest feedback on presentation and how to improve it 👍
